Green River Lake State Park Is Reopening After Flood Damage — Here's What's Available

Green River Lake State Park in Kentucky is beginning a phased reopening after last year’s historic flooding left much of the campground underwater and knocked out its entire electrical system. If you’ve got this park on your radar, here’s what’s actually open right now.
What's Reopening (and What Isn't)
As of late July, about 73 sites are available for primitive and self-contained camping only — meaning RVs and campers that don’t need utility hookups. Generators are allowed for these self-contained sites. The campground store stays closed for now, but a bathhouse, entrance booth, and fire rings are all available, along with firewood and ice for sale.
This phase is expected to run through October 31, when the park closes for the season. Full restoration — including upgraded electrical service at every site and renovated bathhouses — isn’t expected to be complete until spring 2027.
Should You Still Book Here?
If you’re planning to bring a self-contained RV or camper and don’t need hookups, this is genuinely still a workable trip — you’ll just want to book through ReserveAmerica and go in with realistic expectations about what’s available.
