Topsail Hill Preserve spans over 1,600 acres along 30A in Santa Rosa Beach, named for the towering dunes that rise like a ship’s sails over the Gulf. The park protects three rare coastal dune lakes — freshwater lakes that connect to the ocean only intermittently, a phenomenon found in very few places on Earth — plus 15 miles of trails through old-growth pine forests and 13 imperiled species, including the Choctawhatchee beach mouse.
